THE DREAM THAT WOULD NOT LET GO

Long ago—before the rivers forgot their ancient songs—Mama KOKO, the revered wise woman of Umu-Ijele village, awoke with a stubborn dream pressing on her chest like a goat that refused to move.

In the dream, a distant voice whispered:

“Seek the city that hid itself.
Seek the drums that silence thunder…”

Mama KOKO sat up slowly, tightening her headscarf with the precision of a warrior preparing for battle.
“Ah,” she muttered, “trouble has remembered my name again.”

The Stone Guardian of the Forest

That morning, the sky wore a strange robe—half gold, half shadow. Children ran through the village shouting that the forest spirits were humming. Even the leaves trembled as if hiding secrets.

Mama KOKO reached for her walking staff, Oji-Uku, carved with swirling stories of her ancestors. The staff glowed faintly, recognizing her touch.

THE JOURNEY BEGINS

She stepped into the ancient forest where paths twisted like old riddles. Soon, she reached a massive stone face covered in moss and age.

As she approached, the stone mouth opened with a rumble.

“Wise one,” a deep voice echoed.
“Why disturb the silence of forgotten places?”

Mama KOKO tapped her staff once, unbothered.

“I follow a dream older than you.
Let me pass.”

The stone face groaned and split open, revealing a hidden tunnel illuminated by floating blue fireflies that danced like spirits.

THE LOST CITY AWAKES

At the end of the tunnel stood Odarachi, the legendary city that vanished beneath the earth centuries ago.

Odarachi: The Hidden City

Its buildings glimmered with blackstone that drank the light. And towering over the city were gigantic drums arranged in a perfect circle—each drum tall as a palm tree.

The air vibrated with old magic.

Mama KOKO understood instantly:

These were the Drums of Echo, able to command storms, summon ancestors, or silence thunder itself.

But something watched her.

A shadow swirled beside the drums and formed into a tall figure—the Keeper of the Forgotten, with ember-red eyes.

“You cannot take what belongs to yesterday,” it hissed.

Mama Koko Confronts the Keeper

Mama KOKO planted Oji-Uku firmly.

“I do not want your drums.
I want your truth.”

THE TRUTH OF ODARACHI

The Keeper sighed, and the ruins flickered to life with memories:

A proud people who used the drums to bend nature…
A raging storm they tried to imprison…
A sky that struck back with wrath…
A city swallowed to protect the world from humanity’s arrogance.

The Keeper turned to her.

“Why have you come, child of earth?”

Mama KOKO’s voice softened.

“Because the winds are growing wild again.
The world needs your wisdom—not your power.”

The shadow considered her… then bowed.

THE GIFT OF BALANCE

The massive drums began to hum—a low, sorrowful song of memory.
One drum rose into the air and cracked open, revealing a glowing silver seed.

“Plant this,” the Keeper said.
“Where storms rage, it will teach the wind to listen again.”

The Silver Tree of Balance

Mama KOKO took the seed gently.
Immediately, Odarachi began to fade like mist in the morning sun.

THE RETURN TO UMU-IJELE

As she stepped out of the forest, thunder growled across the horizon like a hungry beast. The villagers gathered, frightened.

Mama KOKO knelt and buried the glowing seed in the village square.

The ground split open—
and a silver-leafed tree burst upward, shimmering like moonlight.

The roaring storm fell silent.
The winds softened into a gentle whisper:

“Balance has returned…”

The villagers rejoiced, lifting Mama KOKO high in celebration.

But she only laughed.

“A dream led me here,” she said.
“But wisdom saved us.”

Deep beneath the earth, the Keeper of the Forgotten smiled.
