Best Vacation Spots in Africa

by Dubem Nwokike

Africa is a continent that’s rich in culture and history, with a diverse ecosystem that’s the envy of the world. That said, Africa has some amazing spots for those looking for an adventure vacation—or just to spend some time relaxing on beautiful beaches. Here are our picks for the best places in Africa:

Victoria Falls, Zambia

Victoria Falls is a waterfall on the Zambezi River, between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It’s one of the largest waterfalls in Africa, and also one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. The falls are located in the Zambezi National Park in Zambia, which covers an area of over 1 million hectares (2 million acres). The park was established in 1954 as a game reserve by then-British colonial authorities to protect wildlife from hunters who sought ivory tusks from elephants or rhinoceros horns for use in traditional medicine.

The falls can be explored by visiting nearby attractions like Livingstone Island (formerly called Elephant Island), where you’ll find Victorian-style buildings that date back to 1855 when explorer David Livingstone set up camp here before heading out into uncharted territory further south along the Zambezi River; Devil’s Cataract Gorge; Hippo Pool; Batoka Gorge; and several other natural wonders such as Mupata Gorge, Chobe National Park (Zimbabwe), Victoria Falls Bridge (Zambia), etc…

Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in South Africa. This city has a diverse and vibrant culture with many attractions and activities to enjoy. It’s a perfect place to visit if you want an active holiday, but also want to enjoy some relaxation by the sea or in the mountains.

There are many things to do here. One of the most popular tourist attractions is known for its history and culture: Table Mountain National Park where you can hike up its steep peaks for amazing views! You can also go paragliding over Cape Town from one of these hills or just walk along beaches like Hout Bay Beach which has excellent swimming conditions all year round!

If you’re looking for something else fun like hiking up Table Mountain then check out Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where there are plenty of beautiful gardens as well as hiking trails inside them! If it gets too hot outside, go inside instead because they have restaurants here too that serve delicious food at reasonable prices so why not try something new today?

Obudu Cattle Ranch, Cross River, Nigeria

Nigeria is a country you should visit before you die. The Obudu Cattle Ranch, in the Cross River region of Nigeria, is one of the best places to go on vacation in Africa. It’s surrounded by mountains and wildlife reserves as well as offers plenty of opportunities for horse riding and mountain climbing. There are also a number of luxury lodges available if you want to stay there for longer than just a day trip or weekend break!

Nigeria has much more to offer than just this one destination though! For example:

  • You can learn about Nigerian history at the National Museum in Lagos which houses over 1 million artifacts from around Africa including over 2,000 Egyptian mummies!
  • You could check out some amazing markets selling traditional crafts like clothing made out of palm leaves (which sounds pretty cool).

Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest unbroken caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its position on Tanzania’s Serengeti Plain makes it an important habitat for wildlife, including black rhinos and lions. It’s also a popular tourist destination, as its location in the middle of multiple national parks allows visitors to see some of Africa’s most beautiful scenery from within their vehicles—and at one point, you can even drop into the crater itself!

Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

If you want to see some of Africa’s most impressive wildlife, then the Serengeti National Park may be just what you’re looking for. The Serengeti is one of the largest game reserves in the world, and it’s also home to over 140 species of mammals. This means that if you’re planning a trip there, there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll see at least one animal that you haven’t seen before—and if not, don’t worry! There are plenty more where those came from!

Okavango Delta, Botswana

The Okavango Delta is located in Botswana and is one of the largest inland deltas in the world.

The river flows from Angola into this region, providing it with plenty of water and helping to create a diverse ecosystem that supports all sorts of animals including elephants, lions, and hippos.

The Simien Mountains, Ethiopia

The Simien Mountains are located in northeastern Ethiopia, near the Eritrean border. The area is home to many rare species of animals and plants, including the Gelada baboon (a type of primate) and the Menelik’s bushbuck (a type of antelope).

Located at an altitude between 10,000 feet and 15,000 feet above sea level, the Simien Mountains are one of Ethiopia’s most popular tourist destinations. Visitors can hike through grassland valleys or explore caves full of ancient rock paintings. You’ll also see alpine lakes high up in the mountains that make for stunning photos!

The best time to visit these mountains is during June or September when it’s the dry season—the months from December to March tend to have heavy rains so this may be hard on your trip planning if you’re not prepared for soggy conditions while hiking through forests or exploring underground caves filled with waterfalls. If you want a milder climate than what’s offered during the rainy season then come here during springtime when temperatures are around 50°F/10°C but still pretty chilly compared with other parts of Africa where it would feel like summertime temperatures instead with 30°C/85°F temperatures being common during July & August months which would make visiting Ethiopia impossible without something such as long sleeve shirts etc…

Lamu Island and the Swahili Coast, Kenya

The Swahili Coast, which is located on the northern coastline of Kenya and includes Lamu Island, is known for its unique architecture and culture. The island is home to the oldest surviving Swahili town in East Africa; it also has many mosques, including the oldest one in East Africa.

Abeokuta, Nigeria

Abeokuta is a city in southwestern Nigeria. It is the capital of Ogun State and the largest city in the Yoruba region of Nigeria. Abeokuta was founded by Egba migrants from what is now modern-day Lagos State over 200 years ago and became an important industrial center for Nigeria after its discovery of bauxite deposits.

Namibia’s Skeleton Coast and Sossusvlei sand dunes

The Skeleton Coast and Sossusvlei sand dunes are two of Namibia’s most diverse and jaw-dropping attractions. The Skeleton Coast National Park is a 1,000 kilometers stretch of deserted coast that was named by sailors who were shipwrecked there. To the south of this park, you’ll find a collection of towering dunes called Sossusvlei sand dunes—and they’re just as impressive as their name suggests.

The highlight here is Dune 45 (or “Big Daddy”), which towers an incredible 565 meters above sea level. You can actually climb it for a stunning view of the surrounding desert landscape! Another must-do activity includes driving along Windhoek’s Panorama Route, which follows along the edge of some massive desert hills. Windhoek itself is also worth stopping off at if you have time: it has some great museums and markets selling traditional artwork made by local artists in traditional styles (just be aware that bargaining won’t work here).

The Pyramids of Giza, Egypt

Giza is the site of three pyramids, the largest of which is called the Great Pyramid. It’s said to have been built as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu, and it’s surrounded by other smaller pyramids that were erected for his wives and family members. The Great Pyramid was built over a period of about 100 years, starting in 2560 BC (middle chronology) or 2630 BC (high chronology).

According to popular belief, slaves were used in constructing these incredible structures—but recent archaeological evidence suggests that freeborn workers did most of the work themselves.

Djenne, Mali

Djenne is a town in Mali, located in the Mopti Region. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was built by the Songhai people in the 13th century. Djenne is famous for its mud buildings that are still used today. The buildings were made with water from the Niger River, which helped them stay cool during hot summers and warm during cold winters. Each building has a specific purpose—there are mosques, homes, and stores throughout town to help you get around easily.

Djenne also has many festivals throughout the year including one called Fête des Rameaux (Feast of Palm Branches). This festival celebrates Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem where palm branches were laid out for him on his way to meet King Herod who wanted Jesus dead because he thought he was going against his kingdom’s rules by saying we should love everyone even if they’re different from us or believe differently than us.”
